Welcome Eva Grace!

Eva Grace Hutchings entered the world at 1:12pm on December 30th, 2007. She was 7 lbs, 3 oz and 19 inches long (definitely a keeper)! She has lots of beautiful strawberry blonde hair and is the cutest thing we have ever seen. Check out our Shutterly page http://aaronandcarrie.shutterfly.com (which is also on the column to the right) for a lot more pictures.

Carrie woke up at 2:00am on the 3oth with contractions that were about 5 minutes apart. We got to the hospital about 3:15am and Carrie was 4cm dilated. Aaron then called his parents in Phoenix to let them know they might need to hop on a plane. After walking around the halls for about a 1/2 hour, Carrie was then dilated to 5cm and the hospital checked us in. This was about 5:00am. Aaron called his parents again to let them know their grand-daughter would be here today and they got on a plane at 8:00am to make it to Boise in time for Eva to be born with about 1 1/2 hours to spare. Carrie's parents picked them up at the Boise airport at about 11:45am. So, after about 11 hours of labor (all unmedicated) Eva was born.

Right before she was born (maybe 1 1/2 hours before Carrie started pushing....and pushed for an hour), about 7 football players from the Humanitarian bowl came by to talk football and babies. It was odd but makes for a good story. So, Eva has a little beanie hat from each team (Fresno State and Georgia Tech) with their school colors. And, a guy from channel 7 interviewed Carrie (with no make-up and very little sleep - yikes!) for the evening news (we don't know if it made it on the news or not though).

Needless to say, Eva's birth was definitely the most amazing thing we have ever been a part of. We are loving being parents and can't believe how blessed we are to have this amazing little miracle in our lives.

Blood Pressure Scare

I went in for my 37.5 week appointment expecting it to go smoothly like all my other appointments have. Well, everything looked great exept my blood pressure was really high. It is normally something like 120/65 and this time it was 142/92. So, I had to go home and pretty much be on bedrest for the rest of the day and the following day until 2:30pm when I had another appointment scheduled to check my blood pressure. Luckily, my blood pressure had gone down to 146/74 (it's the bottom number they were concerned about). If it had been high again, they would have sent me for overnight observation. So, I have to continue to take it easy, but I don't have to be on bedrest.

The good news is that she also checked to see if I was progressing at all and I was 2-3 cm dilated and 80% effaced. I know I could stay at that for a while but at least I know that something is happening down there.
My next appointment is the day after Christmas (I don't think I want to see my weight at this appointment) and hopefully everything continues to go well.

Meet Eva Hutchings!

For Carrie's Christmas present, Aaron got her a 3D/4D ultrasound. So on Saturday we went and got the ultrasound done - Carrie was 36 weeks which is almost too late to get good video and pictures. But Eva cooperated and we got really good video, although she had her hands either in front of her face or in her mouth for a majority of the time. It was amazing to see her so clearly and we were so glad that we did it. The best videos are probably the 3rd and 4th ones, so if you don't have time to view all of them, take a look at one of those. Enjoy!

And here are a few of the still pictures that we got. And in order they are.....her face, her mouth with her tongue sticking out, her foot, her hand, her face again, her face with her tongue sticking out, and her ear.

Diaper Pounding!

Our wonderful church family from Boise Friends Church threw a diaper pounding for us on Friday, November 30th. Basically it is a baby shower but everyone brings diapers as gifts. We had a wonderful time and got lots and lots and lots of diapers. We now have 3/4 of our hall closet, plus one of the cupboards in our guest bathroom full of diapers. We are so blessed and thankful to have such a giving, caring church family to bring our little one into. She is going to have lots of wonderful church friends and church grandma's and grandpa's to love her.

Our Picture Page

If you ever feel like checking out more of the maternity pictures that we took...or looking at any of the other thousands of pictures we have on our picture site, you can see them all at aaronandcarrie.shutterfly.com. I am also going to post a link to this site over in the right hand column so it's easily available at all times. Enjoy, but I must warn you, there are probably thousands of pictures to look at.

Maternity Pictures

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, Aaron and I found some time to take some maternity pics. We had a lot of fun doing them, Aaron made sure of that!

The Shower

We had our baby shower on Saturday and it was wonderful. Brenda and Tami and mom did a great job planning it. I got to see several friends that I haven't seen in quite some time....although I wish I would have had more time to catch up with them, there was just too much going on. Eva got tons and tons of clothes. Her drawers and half her closet were already full before the shower (with lots of great hand me downs) and so now I am trying to reorganize and figure out how to fit everything in what space we have. She has a wardrobe that could compete with anyone's. We definitely are not going to have to buy clothes for a very long time. We slowly but surely are getting ready for this little girl to come. I can't believe we have less than 2 months now.

And here are just a few of the cute clothes that Eva got.

And finally, what is a baby shower without some babies.

And although he is not quite a baby anymore....I still had to include the pic.
